Justin Hayward Film & Julie Ragins Live Performance

Set to Open Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema 2017

The 2017 Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema is excited to announce its opening day festivities which will feature a film presentation of The Moody Blues legend Justin Hayward: Live in Concert at the Capitol Theatre, along with a special live performance from Moody Blues vocalist/keyboardist Julie Ragins.

Justin Hayward, who rose to prominence as the vocalist, guitarist and composer for British rock pioneers The Moody Blues, celebrates the 50 year anniversary this year of the band’s iconic Days of Future Passed album which spawned two of their biggest hits, Tuesday Afternoon and Nights in White Satin, both written by a then 20 year old Justin Hayward.

Filmmaker/composer David Minasian’s production of The Story Behind Nights In White Satin walked away with the Best Documentary Featurette at last year’s IIFC. He will be on hand to introduce his latest Moody Blues themed film, Justin Hayward Live In Concert at the Capitol Theatre, along with a music video he co-directed with IIFC Executive Producer Trinity Houston titled The Wind of Heaven. The Wind of Heaven song, co-written by Hayward and Minasian and recently released by Universal Music, is the title theme for a major motion picture scheduled to begin shooting this spring in Southern California, including Idyllwild. The script has been written by IIFC founder/director Stephen Savage and is being produced by Ms. Houston for IM3Global Entertainment.

Justin Hayward, together with Julie Ragins and guitar virtuoso Mike Dawes performed The Wind of Heaven live around the world throughout 2016 to standing ovations, and will continue to do so as part of Hayward’s Wind of Heaven Tour which begins in February 2017. Ragins, who is prominently featured in Hayward’s Capitol Theatre film, will perform live at the Creekstone Inn on January 5th, the opening day of IIFC. Her appearance will kick off a nationwide tour with her and her husband, acclaimed session musician Curtis Brengle, performing with their duo “Pear” at a number of venues and private events across the US starting in California and winding up on the East Coast, just in time for Julie to join Justin’s Wind of Heaven tour beginning in February.

Justin Hayward Live In Concert at the Capitol Theatre along with The Wind of Heaven music video will screen at the Creekstone Inn on January 5th starting at 8 pm followed by a live performance by Julie Ragins as part of IIFC’s opening night festivities. Tickets are $15 and include refreshments.
